President Donald Trump just announced that a U.S. warship has destroyed an Iranian drone in the Strait of Hormuz as tensions mount between the two countries. Involved in the incident was the USS Boxer, which took defensive action after the drone came within 1,000 yards of the warship and ignored numerous warnings to back off.

Trump called on other world leaders to condemn what he describes as Iran’s attempts to disrupt global navigation and commerce through the strait, in what is a very strategic waterway in the Persian Gulf region.

Iran’s Press TV reported that the country seized a foreign-registered oil tanker in the Persian Gulf. Although the ship was captured on Sunday, the news was just released today. The Iran Revolutionary Guards Corps, claimed that the tanker was trying to smuggle one million liters of oil through the Strait of Hormuz.

Twelve crew members aboard the tanker flying under the Panamanian flag, but nationalities of the crew members were not known.

This situation is developing and will continue to change.
