A source close to the White House revealed on Monday that the President’s impromptu visit to Walter Reed military hospital was to test him for potential exposure to a chemical substance which was likely added to his food. The President underwent a battery of tests to assess whether he was exposed to a time delay poison after a food tester became gravely ill.
The sudden onset of symptoms by the President’s food tester prompted urgent medical tests for the tester and the President’s unplanned trip to Walter Reed.
Staff at the military hospital would typically be informed that a V.I.P. would be visiting. However, no such notice was given on Saturday when the President arrived for the unscheduled visit.
The President’s motorcade drove to the medical center unannounced, with reporters under direction not to report his movement until they arrived Saturday at Walter Reed.
A separate source familiar with the situation described Trump’s visit as ‘abnormal,’ but added that Trump, 73, appeared to be in good health late Friday.”
The chemical tests President Trump underwent were not available at the White House clinic, necessitating the visit to Walter Reed.
At last report, the President was deemed healthy and showed no signs of poisoning. The condition of his food tester is unknown.
