AOC Critizes Family Leave Legislation, Compares Humans with Dogs Weaning Puppies

In a stunning and unusual analogy about the time puppies spend with their dog mothers, Representative Alexandria Ocasio Cortez criticized the amount of leave given to human parents by corporations as unacceptable. AOC, during a meeting of House Oversight Committee implied that dogs are treated more fairly than humans because dogs get to spend more time with their newborns.

Nevermind that dogs are not given any sort of family leave by corporations. Puppies are also weaned and able to eat on their own, learn on their own and live away from their mothers after 8 weeks. They are typically put up for adoption at that time and are taken to loving homes were they are cared for by human parents.

Perhaps this is what AOC is advocating for with human babies?

From Newsweek

Congress reached a tentative agreement on paid parental leave for federal employees. In exchange for new parental-leave benefits, Congress said it would allow for the creation of the Space Force as the sixth branch of the military.

“Including paid family leave is a victory for all workers because it will help push more employers in the right direction and ensure more workers get paid family leave,” Republican Sen. Jack Reed said in a statement. “Expanding access to paid family leave helps the health and economic well-being of individuals who have it and strengthens the ability of employers to retain their workers.”

The measure, which still needs to be passed by both chambers of Congress, would give more than 2 million workers 12 weeks of paid leave in order to care for a newborn child or an adopted child.

Ivanka Trump commented in a tweet that the measure will “mark a huge step forward towards making paid leave a reality for all Americans.”
