New Hampshire House Advances Red Flag Gun Law

The majority Democrat House of New Hampshire has voted to advance a red flag gun law, which would allow anyone to report suspicion of family, co-workers, or neighbors, resulting in their gun rights being taken away.

The 201-176 vote occurred on the opening day of the new legislative session. Currently, 17 other states and Washington, D.C., have passed some sort form of “red flag” laws.

It’s an odd move considering that New Hampshire is rated one of the safest states in the country in annual studies. It’s known for being a low crime state, particularly with regards to violent crimes. The state currently has no Red Flag law, generally few firearms laws, permitless carry, and concealed carry.

The legislation is expected to easily pass the majority Democrat New Hampshire Senate, but is likely to be vetoed by the Republican Governor, Chris Sununu.
