With the passing of a new trade deal with China and the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), U.S. farmers are starting to see the economic benefits of President Trump’s international trade policies. In return, Trump is seeing a bump in his approval rating among farmers in America’s “corn belt.”

The Wall Street Journal reports:

According to a monthly pole from agricultural trade publication Farm Journal released Sunday, 83% of farmers and ranchers approve of the president’s job performance it is the highest level of support for Mr. Trump among farmers since he took office.

The poll showed a marked increase in his ‘strongly approve’ numbers, which jumped to 64% in January, up 3% from the December poll, suggesting that Trump’s support is solid among farmers. While 19% of respondents “somewhat approve” of the job Trump is doing for them, only 3% stated the “disapprove” of the President.

These poll numbers bode well for Trump’s chance at keeping rural voters, which he will need in order to win re-election later this year.
