Federal Judge Anthony Trenga has ordered that Chelsea Manning be released from prison. Trenga concluded that the grand jury no longer needs Manning to appear for testimony. Judge Trenga did not waive the $256,000 fine issued against Manning for resisting the grand jury empaneled against WikiLeaks.
According to reports:
“the court finds Ms. Manning’s appearance before the Grand Jury is no longer needed, in light of which her detention no longer serves any coercive purpose.”
Manning was scheduled to appear in court this Friday.
