Long-Running Cop Show Cancelled Amid National Protests

It began in 1989 and ends in 2020, the long-running real life drama, “Cops”, has been canceled by Paramount Network. The show was pulled from the schedule several days ago, but it wasn’t until today that the network announced they had axed the show.

“Cops” premiered in 1989 on Fox, which had been founded only 3 years prior. The network rain the show for 14 years, alongside another crime reality show called “Most Wanted.” Paramount, known as Spike TV at the time, picked up the show in 2013.

The show, and has recently been criticized for its depiction of law enforcement and it’s dubious tactics used on the show and behind-the-scenes.

A&E Network has followed suit by pulling it’s number one rated cable TV show “Live PD” off the air. According to network they made the move “out of respect for the families of George Floyd and others who have lost their lives.”
