Numerous outlets are reporting that Morocco and Israel have agreed to a peace settlement and normalization of economic relations. This makes the fourth Arab country the Trump administration has brought to the negotiating table. The United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Sudan penned deals with Israel earlier this year.
White House adviser Jared Kushner told the press during a call Thursday,
As part of this deal, Morocco will establish full diplomatic relations and resume official contacts with Israel. They will grant overflights and direct flights to and from Israel for all Israelis.
They’ll reopen the liaison offices in Rabat and Tel Aviv immediately, with the intention to open the embassies in the near future. They’ll be promoting economic cooperation between Israeli and Moroccan companies.
President Trump was quoted as saying it is a ‘historic breakthrough’.
Morocco and Saudi Arabia are close allies, giving experts hope that the Saudi Kingdom will soon follow it’s Arab neighbors into a peace deal with Israel.
