In his Sunday Morning Futures appearance yesterday, Representative Devin Nunes gave Maria Bartiromo an update on the lawsuit he filed against Twitter back in March. Nunes is suing Twitter for $250 million in damages for targeting conservatives for censorship on it’s platform.

In July of 2018, Vice published news depicting how Twitter shadow bans popular conservative figures. At the time, their focus was on RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel and other prominent republicans.

Vice stated:

The Republican Party chair Ronna McDaniel, several conservative Republican congressmen, and Donald Trump Jr.’s spokesman no longer appear in the auto-populated drop-down search box on Twitter, VICE News has learned. It’s a shift that diminishes their reach on the platform — and it’s the same one being deployed against prominent racists to limit their visibility.

How Twitter Censored Project Veritas

The Gateway Pundit notes that Twitter has also targeted pro-Trump Republican members of congress such as Matt Gaetz, Mark Meadows, Jim Jordan and John Ratcliffe with the same shadow banning technique. The social media giant also continues to censor  prominent pro-Trump accounts including: Mike Cernovich, Jack Posobiec, Paul Joseph Watson, TGP’s Jim Hoft, TGP’s Cassandra Fairbanks, former TGP writer Lucian Wintrich, TGP’s Cristina Laila and Laura Loomer .  Laura Loomer has since been eliminated from Twitter altogether.

How Social Media Coordinates Censorship of Prominent Conservatives

Twitter denies that is specifically targets any group with its tweet-censoring algorithms. A Twitter spokesperson told Vice:

We are aware that some accounts are not automatically populating in our search box and shipping a change to address this…I’d emphasize that our technology is based on account *behavior* not the content of Tweets.

Twitter has specifically denied shadow banning congressman Matt Gaetz, telling Breitbart that the apparent suppression of autocomplete search suggestions for his account appear to be an “error.”

The court date for Nunes’ lawsuit against Twitter has been set for some time in August.
