In a recent interview on MSNBC, Elizabeth Warren commented on a plan she has to help eliminate greenhouse gas from our environment. She wants to stop construction of all homes and buildings, unless they are carbon-neutral.
This plan would of course be devastating to the housing industry, which is a huge part of our economic growth as a nation. As cities continue to grow, demand for new housing and office space grow with it.
Additionally, builders would be so heavily regulated that they’d likely be unable to continue doing business.
Such a plan is also likely to make housing not be affordable for the average homebuyer. Even with subsidies and tax breaks for green building, few Americans living in cities have moved to solar, alternative energy, or construction made from green building materials.
Judging by the reponses from Twitter, her plan is not very popular with intelligent American voters.
