Stephanie Grisham who replaced former White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, has been reassigned as Chief of Staff serving the First Lady, Melania Trump.
Grisham is returning to play a role for FLOTUS since she was the first lady’s press secretary before becoming House press secretary June 2019.
I am excited to welcome Stephanie back to the team in this new role. She has been a mainstay and true leader in the Administration from even before day one, and I know she will excel as Chief of Staff.
Melania Trump said in a statement.
Grisham has been criticized for not holding regular press briefings as was the custom for so many years. However, she continued in the new Tradition set by Sanders due to, what was seen as, an unruly press corps.
Grisham said that she would continue to serve in her current role until a replacement was named. She also said she would stay on to help with a ‘smooth transition’ for the incoming press secretary.
