“Cops” premiered in 1989 on Fox, which had been founded only 3 years prior. The network rain the show for 14 years, alongside another crime reality show called “Most Wanted.” Paramount, known as Spike TV at the time, picked up the show in 2013.
The show, and has recently been criticized for its depiction of law enforcement and it’s dubious tactics used on the show and behind-the-scenes.
A&E Network has followed suit by pulling it’s number one rated cable TV show “Live PD” off the air. According to network they made the move “out of respect for the families of George Floyd and others who have lost their lives.”
In my opinion, it would be a mistake to cancel #LivePD. I believe that the show gives a perfect look at how tough a police officers job is. It also provides transparency of how officers conduct stops thoroughly and safely. Live PD is more benifitial than what people may realize.
