A new lawsuit alleges that ex-cardinal Theodore McCarrick, who resigned his post in 2018, ran a child sex ring out of a Jersey shore beach house. The lawsuit was filed late Tuesday by attorney Jeff Anderson for an unidentified plaintiff in the Superior Court of New Jersey in Middlesex County. McCarrick is accused of operating a sex camp between altar boys, priests and seminarians at a New Jersey beach residence in the 1980s.

The lawsuit ensued following the passage of a bill in New Jersey which extends the statute of limitations on child sexual abuse claims.
The 30-page court document details how McCarrick allegedly took his pick of boys to sexually abuse and allotted others to be abused by fellow clerics. The anonymous man who filed the lawsuit claims that he was abused in the early 1980s by McCarrick and three priests at a Sea Girt, NJ home, purchased by McCarrick with diocesan funds while he was bishop of Metuchen. NJ. The suit identifies one of his abusers as the former Essex Catholic High School principal who introduced him to McCarrick under the pretense that the bishop would help pay the plaintiff’s school tuition.
In a video press conference, attorney for the plaintiff stated that the Pope and other high ranking officials in the Catholic church had been aware of McCarrick’s abusive nature for decades, but still allowed him to become one of the most powerful leaders in the Church.

McCarrick was accused previously of bringing adult seminarians to the home and sexually harassing them during overnight visits. Further allegations involving sexual abuse of children led to McCarrick being defrocked last year, earning him the honor of highest-ranking American Catholic to be castigated over sexual abuse and misconduct.
