Portland, OR – In Oregon’s largest city, protesters continue gathering and damaging property along the way. The latest casualty is a statue of George Washington, the first president of the United States. The statue, which was located on the lawn off the German American Society at 57th and Sandy St. in Northwest Portland, was brought down by protesters on Thursday night.

A burning U.S. flag was seen draped over the head of the statue before it was pulled to the ground.
Protesters used a rope to drag the structure off of it’s pedestal.

Protesters further vandalized the statue by painting graffiti all over it. “You’re on native land”, “BLM” and “F*ck cops”, were among the slogans painted on the statue.
Portland police were not immediately available for comment.
