Jim Herman, 41, won the Barbasol Championship on Sunday. Herman shot a 65 to with PGA event at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Ky. He won by shooting 26-under over four rounds.
It had been more than three years since Herman won on the PGA circuit. His world ranking was 134th prior to the Barbasol Championship win.
During the event, he claimed the victory was due in part to some valuable advice he got from President Donald J Trump when the two played golf in the past, when Herman was an employee at a Trump club.
Herman and Trump were regular golfing partner when he worked as an assistant golf pro at New Jersey’s Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster. The newly crowned PGA champion said that Trump had recommended that he to try a different grip on his putter after struggling to make shots on the greens.
He gave me a good talking to and told me to use a different style if it’s not working…Some great advice, so I appreciate it.
Trump can often be found on the weekends, playing golf at the Trump National Golf Club in Potomac Falls, Va.
“I think I need to see him again soon,” the champion said after the win. “He motivates me and puts me in a good spot.”
