Unfortunately, not only are the Democrats fighting for criminal aliens, they appear to be winning over the all important moron vote.
I retired from the Border Patrol back in 2019 shortly after I became eligible to retire. Trump was still in office and I was pissed at him.
Initially, Trump’s Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, had implemented a “Zero Tolerance” policy on the southern border, and it was working. This meant that if an illegal alien crossed the U.S.-Mexico border, they wouldn’t simply get a Voluntary Return (VR) back to Mexico, but would face a prosecution and jail time. The whole reason Voluntary Returns (VRs) became a thing was because there were so many illegal entries that taking them all to court would have overwhelmed the courts. If the adult alien were Other Than Mexican (OTMs), then they were separated from their children while being held for prosecution. Why was that done? Because of government policy. It’s done to American citizens all the time with no fanfare. If you are driving drunk with your child in the car, guess what? You will not be put in a cell with the kid. Either the child will be turned over to another adult relative, or, they will be placed with the county’s version of child protective services.
Now, this Zero Tolerance policy had been tried before on a limited basis with the result that it drastically reduced crossings in the areas of the border where it was tried. Sessions sought to expand the policy for the whole border. The way the mainstream media reacted, you would have thought it was the first time this had ever happened. In reality, Operation Streamline had started a Zero Tolerance policy back under George “Dumbya” Bush and continued under Obama. (The Wikipedia entry on it claims it existed in the McAllen Sector, but it wasn’t happening when I was down there. Of course, I left at the beginning of 2005).
The midterms were coming up and the Open Borders Propaganda outfits hauled out the “Kids In Cages” media hoax. They acted like it was a brand new policy (again, it wasn’t) and started with the personal sob stories of the immivaders. The media’s goal was the destruction of the border.
Because the most important voting bloc in any American election is the all important Moron vote, morons saw and fell for the “Kids in Cages” lie. (Yes, Obama built most of those facilities with children in them). Republicans crashed in the polls and the midterms were coming up. Rather than try to explain to the media and the American public what the truth was, Trump responded to media pressure and caved. He stabbed Jeff Sessions in the back and over ruled the Zero Tolerance policy.
Whereas crossings at the border had been slowed to a trickle, the flood gates opened up. Anyone coming to the border with a child could not be separated from the child and so was released into the United States. If Trump thought the aesthetics behind child separation were bad, he had no clue how bad it looked when the border was opened. It looked like a betrayal to his base.
(I could write an article defending Jeff Sessions from all the attacks he had to undergo. Sessions was always the immigration hardliner, not Trump. Sessions’ big mistake was thinking Chuck Schumer and the Democrats would honorably investigate the Russian Collusion hoax and realize that there was nothing there. He didn’t realize that Schumer et al. were willing to lie and use the hoax for propaganda purposes even when it came out that there was nothing to prosecute there. BTW, Stephen Miller used to work for Senator Jeff Sessions).
Now, Trump has Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). As with Obama, it gives him a certain charisma. Just look at how Trump renamed the Kennedy center as the Trump-Kennedy center. I was against it till I saw the meltdown on the left over it. Politicians with NPD will find an issue, get out in front the furthest on the issue, and when the crowd cheers for the issue, the narcissist internalizes it as the crowd cheering for he himself. Trump’s elevator speech is an example of this. Senator Ted Cruz had said some things against illegal immigration and Trump sought to outdo him.

If you read Michelle Malkin or Ann Coulter’s books, it should not surprise you that illegal aliens bring a lot of crime and problems with them.
Did Trump actually mean it? Maybe in the moment he did, but after he was elected, he met with House Leader Nancy Pelosi (D- Commiefornia) and Senator Chuck Schumer (D-Nueva Yorka) to try to work out a deal for the so called Dreamers (DACA recipients).
Trump only seemed to be concerned about the southern border being opened up because the optics looked bad. It took Ann Coulter lighting a fire under his ample butt to get him to start building the wall.
So, do I trust Trump? NO, not at all. If I can use him to get a closed border and mass deportations, then I will do so, but he seems to be waffling over that.
Just like the last time at the midterms, Trump backed off hard line measures and it cost him. It seems like he’s doing the same thing again.
This time it’s the blue cities in rebellion. First it was Los Angeles, then Chicago, Portland, and now it’s Minneapolis. The Democrats were smart though. They anticipated what would happen. The Dems tried to impeach Trump and then tie him up in court with bogus charges. In my opinion, they stole the 2020 election using a combination of voting machines, mail in ballots, fraudulent voters, plus, control of media and the courts. They behaved like tyrants. Supposedly, the only reason they didn’t win again was that their servers in Serbia were blocked. (See Sharyl Attkisson’s interview of Ralph Pezzullo and Gary Berntsen).
“Accuse your enemy of that with which you are guilty.” (According to Grok, the closest anyone came to saying that was Goebbels who accused the allies of using it against Germany). The Democrats were saying that Trump would act like a tyrant if he were elected a second time. They held the “No Kings” rallies. They were getting in front of the problem. They knew they were going to protest mass deportations. They knew they would intentionally impede ICE and Border Patrol from doing their jobs, often violently.
I believe the Democrats wargamed this out in advance and concluded that if they put up enough resistance, then Trump would have to use the Insurrection Act. They intentionally want to put him in that position, so, they can scream, “See!!! WE WERE RIGHT!!!” And thus, win over the moron vote. Never mind that the Insurrection Act has been invoked by 15 different U.S. Presidents. THIS TIME IT’S FOR REAL!!!
So far, Trump is refusing to invoke it. I believe he should invoke it and that he needs better messaging. Just like Trump backed down during the “Kids in cages” hoax under the false impression that it would save him in the midterms, he’s going down the same path again. If he wants the bad optics to stop, instead of backing off, he should charge forward and invoke it. When Democrats cannot protest in the street, a lot of the bad optics will disappear with it.

The Dems studied Goebbels’ propaganda techniques. They are invading public spaces and controlling them. The moron voter who wants to be part of the “in” crowd will go along like a sheep in order to be accepted.
As things stand now, I believe the Democrats will pretend to play nice, wait for ICE Agents to dwindle down in number, then resume their attacks against law enforcement. The rioters see the ouster of Chief Border Patrol Agent Greg Bovino as a win. Their morale is up, the Border Patrol’s morale is down.
The verdict is out. It’s too early to tell if this was a good decision or not, but I’m inclined to disagree with Trump. I believe it is better to get out in front and explain what the Democrats are doing, and why they are doing it. Just like he was able to close down the southern border, once people realize that Democrats were simply protesting in favor of illegal aliens (many but not all criminals on top of it), they will switch. As I wrote before, they should call it Operation Eisenhower in honor of a man who fought real Nazis, yet, deported over a million Mexicans.
P.S. If the Nazis had merely deported Jews to Madagascar or some other place, they wouldn’t have been regarded as evil. It’s the act of murder that makes people believe they were bad, not for building baby farms for whites
