During my career, I went from McAllen, Texas up to Frozen Moose Snot, Maine (aka Houlton), and then, after freezing my tailbone off there, I transferred down to Buffalo to thaw out.
When I first got to the Buffalo Station in 2008, I was talking to Darren, the intel guy at the station at the time. Even back then, there was a controversy over whether or not illegal aliens were receiving government paid for healthcare. Depending on which Border Patrol sector you came out of on the southern border, we all had very different experiences. Darren had come out of California and he was telling me that there was a healthcare card given for poor people in the state to get healthcare. While the media was saying that illegal aliens were not getting government paid healthcare, Darren told me, “I had a stack of California cards that I had taken off of illegal aliens…And, that was just me!” By which he meant, that other Agents had taken these same cards off of illegal aliens too. I doubt most of the Agents bothered to keep a tally of them, but it showed how dishonest the media was.
Previously, when I had been down in McAllen, one of the senior Agents was telling me about how they caught a pregnant woman once who had gone into labor. The Agents actually took her to the hospital. It was a difficult labor and the baby’s collar bone broke during delivery. The only doctor around qualified to work on such cases was up in San Antonio, so, they actually flew mother and newborn up to the hospital there by helicopter. That flight was supposedly outrageously expensive and the whole thing cost a half million dollars paid for courtesy of the taxpayer.
The government shutdown over funding for illegal aliens appears to be ending. The Democrats on social media have been screaming that “undocumented migrants” (they actually do have documents) don’t use public healthcare because…Why, that would be against the law!
Back when I was an independent who voted Democrat, I was cruising on a Sunday morning on duty while listening to NPR. It was their puzzle show, and they asked at the end of the broadcast a final question. It was something like, “Name something that has all the vowels of the alphabet repeated in it twice and that you cannot drive without.” I was never terribly good at these kind of puzzles, but I racked my brain- Alternator? No. Carburetor? No. Fuel Injection? No. Radiator? No. Exhaust? No. Spark plugs? No. I gave up. I couldn’t think of it.
I had to wait for the next week to find out the answer: “Automobile Insurance.” Wait, WHAT?!!!! I had friends in the Rio Grande Valley who were hit by illegal aliens driving cars without insurance. YOU CAN DAMN WELL DRIVE WITHOUT INSURANCE!!!! You sit your ass down in the car seat, close the door, put the key in the ignition, turn the key, the engine rumbles to life, and you drive off. You can drive without a driver’s license too. You are not SUPPOSED to drive without it, but you can!
It seems that Democrats cannot wrap their heads around the idea that people who break into a country illegally might actually commit additional crimes. It’s like they’ve never heard of fraud. “Aliens cannot receive free healthcare at government expense! Why, that would be illegal!”
So, I came across an article in The Gateway Pundit where Elon Musk tells Joe Rogan why the Democrats are fighting so hard for healthcare for illegal aliens.
Some other articles of interest. Representative Ro Khanna of California admitted that Dems are fighting for free healthcare for illegal aliens, but he sought to minimize the amount spent on illegal aliens to make it more palatable. Government watchdog Open The Books CEO John Hart, “When elected officials argue that taxpayer dollars aren’t going to illegal immigrants that just isn’t true.”
According to the above article, “The day before the start of the latest shutdown drama, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries declared that Republicans were ‘lying’ about the Democrats’ hostage demands to turn the lights back on. No, the left’s spending plan would not pay for health care for illegal immigrants, the New York Democrat said. Doing so would require a change in federal law that bars such a thing, echoed Jeffries’ pals in corporate media.
‘Nowhere have Democrats suggested that we’re interested in changing federal law,’ he told NBC News for a story under the misleading headline, ‘GOP misleads with claim that Democrats shut down to give health care to ‘illegal immigrants.’ The story, like a lot of reporting from the corporate media, hasn’t aged well.”
Then there’s this report here. “Five states and Washington, D.C., funneled more than $1.35 billion in federal taxpayer Medicaid funding to illegals, according to a preliminary audit of the program completed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
CMS Administrator Dr. Mehemet Oz posted the results of the preliminary audit on social media showing California, D.C., Illinois, Washington, Colorado, and Oregon spent millions each on illegals, with California spending the bulk, topping over $1.3 billion alone.”
So, yes, illegal aliens are getting government paid for free healthcare. You cannot have social welfare programs and an open border. Money simply doesn’t grow on trees. We cannot take care of the entire world.
Thank God the Democrats appear to have been defeated this time around. However, we all know they will be back.
